Septic tanks emptied and inspected

A septic tank that is emptied on time keeps working for decades; one that is left full sends sludge into the drain field, and that is the expensive part. We pump the tank out, inspect the inlet, outlet and baffles, and tell you what condition it is in.

The waste goes to a licensed treatment site, with the paperwork to show it. How often a tank needs emptying depends on its size and how many people use it, so we give you a date range for the next visit rather than a rule of thumb.

How a call-out works

• Tell us where the tank is and, if you know, its size and when it was last emptied.
• We arrive with the vacuum unit, open the lid, pump out and inspect.
• You get a short written note of what was found and when the next pump-out is likely due.
• The lid is closed and the area left as we found it.

Slow toilets, wet patches over the tank or a smell near the outlet are the usual signs it is overdue. If you are not sure when it was last done, that in itself is a reason to look.
